Shri M.Ct. Pethachi, the second son of the great visionary Shri M.Ct.M. Chidambaram Chettyar has served as the Honorary Consul of Finland in South India for 21 years and was awarded the Finnish honour, Knight, First Class, of the Order of the Lion of Finland. The presentation was made by Ambassador for Finland in India Glen Lindholm at a private reception.

A Graduate of Purdue University, USA, M.CT.Pethachi, 75, has vast commercial, industrial and agricultural experience over the years.

Chairman and Director of several corporate companies, M.CT.Pethachi was on the Boards of the Indian Overseas Bank Ltd.; United India Fire & General Insurance Co. Ltd.; Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.; Madras Refineries Ltd.; and Tamil Nadu Synthetic Fibres Ltd.; and other Companies. He was Managing Director of Travancore Rayons Ltd.

Was past Chairman of the Indian Institute of Packaging (a body set up under the aegis of the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India); and President of the Asian Packaging Federation.

Member Emeritus, American Chemical Society.

Honorary Consul Emeritus, Finland.

Manages a large coffee plantation in Karnataka.

President of the M.CT.M. Chidambaram Chettyar Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Mylapore, Chennai. President of M.Ct.M. Chidambaram Chettyar International School, Mylapore, Chennai. Also, President of M.CT.M. Chidambaram Chettyar Higher Secondary School in Kanadukathan, Sivaganga Dist., Tamil Nadu.

Trustee of several trusts.
