A Musical Presentation
Flame of the Forest A Musical Presentation by Tim Hoffman (Koto, Flute), Chitravina Ravikiran, Anil Srinivasan, Akkarai Subbulakshmi and KV Prasad. Flame of the Forest is a unique celebration of music and sounds from around the world. Tim Hoffman is easily one of the most versatile instrumentalists on the global stage, with the Koto, Shakuhachi, Bansuri etc. being his faithful allies. He has performed many times in India and has a long association with Chennai’s cultural milieu. Ravikiran and Anil Srinivasan have recently collaborated to produce an album of the same name (Flame of the Forest) and join Hoffman in a unique presentation of music from around the world as a special tribute concert for the International Baccalaureate Music students of the MCTM Chidambaram Chettyar School. Set up with a broadbased curriculum and to prepare “lifelong learners”, the MCTM Chidambaram Chettyar International School’s IB and IGCSE syllabus encompasses an in-depth education alongside a perspective to life skills and the creative arts. The IB Music programme run by the school is among the very few in the entire country, and aims to train students in musical styles from around the world. Flame of the Forest is part of a series of unique initiatives that seek to expose students to world class musicians who embody the IB philosophy of a global outlook and in-depth training in one’s chosen craft. This unique musical tribute is partly sponsored by the Casio company and will take place at the school’s heritage building on Luz Church Road on Sunday, the 14th of February, 2010, 6pm - 7pm in the evening. All are welcome. Jayanthi Thiagarajan Head of IB School |
